Right... I always liked halloween, best time of the year to catch all of those favorite scary movies and to go to some hunted houses. A couple of weeks ago we went to Halloween horror nights! It was a lot of fun except for all of those long lines we had to wait in. Also we tried to go on the Men In Black ride and it shut down on us... WTF?? what a waste of time. Anyway, I am very sad that I don't know of any Halloween party that is going on tonight or tomorrow. I guess I will just do what I usually do every other night of the year. Oh well I don't have any costume either so I guess it is okay.

Ever have the feeling that you owned a test before? Like you just did so well that there was no possible way you got less then an A?... Right... well did it come true? Did you own that test when you got it back? I am not talking about easy tests that are below you but new material that you've just been learning...

I Thought I did well on my EE2 (electrical engineering) test but I get it back and its marked wrong here and wrong there! WTF???!!! So I got a high C on the test instead of the A I was looking for. Apparently our teacher put a couple of tricks in the test.. maybe this is to see if you have a full concept of an idea but none the less it is a trick. If you never seen the trick before you won't get it right! Just like a magic show if you see the trick once you are mind boggled but if you see it again and again you can figure out how it works and how it is supposed to go! Such is life I suppose.

Memphis

This weekend I went to my cousin, Ginger's Wedding. Most of my Dad's Cousins live in Tennessee which is where the wedding was held as you can guess from the title. Memphis is kind of cool. Their Airport though is really weird.

Well I am slow what can I say!!! To recap the day as best I can remember it... it was a long day I suppose. I got up at 4am for some reason half an hour before my alarm was supposed to go off. I took a shower and I was still way to early to leave for the airport I didn't want to go back to bed or anything so I thought to myself to just go to the airport, I can read there. (I still haven't finished the hairy potter book)

Anyway I get to the airport took a picture. Got to Atlanta at some early point that I had 3 hours before my flight to Memphis. I decided to go to concourse E where there is a bookstore there that in my opinion is the biggest one in the airport. I was looking for a specific book "A Childhood's End" by Arthur C Clark. This book is really good and I want my roommate to read it but he won't buy it. No book was there I thought it was there last time but didn't know if my roommate would read it at the time. The lady said there was a Bigger bookstore on Concourse D... well No it was not bigger and I had to wait for it to open too.

Next I know that between concourse T and A... hmm T&A... Oh wait ya umm there are statues and pictures of the African culture. I think they are trying to say something about atlanta but thats just me. So I decided to take some of these pictures.

Well this is all before 9am in the morning. Then I get on the plane as one of the last seats. Get to the Memphis Airport (see above picture) which is designed really weird. Don't really do to much till the wedding I ended up sleeping. We shopped for a gift using the gift registry at some expensive store. The wedding started at 7pm... at this point I have been up for 12 hours. I take some pictures at the wedding. Most turn out bad because my dad told me not to use flash till the end. I like this picture the best...

Almost immediately after the wedding everyone went to the reception which is about 15 minutes away. The reception was where things got weird to me. The food was what they called a "potato bar" really just think of a glass with mashed potatoes and then taco toppings. Thats the potato bar. The speeches were almost touching the Husband told a story I had heard before. I think it would have been nice to have someone there that remembered me except my immediate family... Later in the reception they brought a bunch of sorority sisters forward and they decided to have some chug drinking chant and passed the pitcher around... AT A WEDDING!!!! WTF???????? Well this is where I started to want to go home now. I am done... stuck up sorority sisters for brides maids and Fraternity brothers for the groomsmen. All probably have gotten together to have matches for each other before hand.. because thats how they work. They make sure that each person has someone as a match. What does this mean I don't know nothing really I could always ask someone to dance except that they did not like to dance and keep dancing they would only pick very specific songs to dance too then leave the floor then the older women would come on the floor dance and trade spots... All I have to say is that Friend weddings are probably going to be better then Family weddings. I will have to give warnings to my cousin who is getting married. I am supposed to be the best man. Oi... If you want more pictures let me know. If not thats fine by me, it just takes so long to load them!!!

Well I almost went to Daytona Beach this weekend however this friday we had some bad weather and I think that come people got pushed to friday. Anyway at the last minute the night before I decided not to go. Maybe it was for the best as the people who were going to pick me up stayed up all night reading the new Harry Potter book. I ended up buying it too only because it really wasn't that expensive. It was $18 at walmart which is surprising to me.. as I thought almost all hardbacks were 20 dollars plus.

So while at walmart I decided to get a camera. I don't know much about cameras but this was my criteria. 100-200 dollars, has rechargable internal battery opposed to having to buy double A batteries. This is because I here people saying how the flash just drains the batteries from their camera. Um also it had to be about the size of my wallet in that I can put it in my pocket easily. So I ended up with this Sanyo camera which looks pretty cool. And this is the first pictures I took of my roommates cats. This one is Starbuck. I did edit the pictures a little bit.

This is Helo. Ya umm they are sometimes a pain as they are still kittens less then a year old. At night you here them running around the house sometimes it is hard to sleep. They all seem to like my room for some reason. Every time I get home they come in my room and play in it. Maybe it is because I have a stuff around my room like dice. magic cards and shoes! Also starbuck likes to lay on my computer keyboard.. I think he likes to do that because it is a little warm and everything.

Finally the last cat is boomer.

One mistake I did do I guess was not get an SD card. So right now I can only take about 10 pictures before I fill up the battery. I am told by one of my friends that you can get a SD card from walmart for about 15 dollars that is a 1 gig card. He said it might be a sale or just what they are going for now. I will have to look into it more. Next week I do plan on going down to the Warner Robins Air force base Air Museum and taking some pictures as they have a SR-71 down there. For future notice, this weekend I will be going to a wedding that one of my cousins is getting married. I don't remember which one but my Dad wants me to go. This is his part of the family down in Tennessee. GEEZE why is every week going to see family?? Maybe I am just crazy. This is also their first time flying for free on delta so we will have to see how that goes.

Okay its late.. why because I went and saw Transformers. It was an okay movie very entertaining. The fights were not as good as my one friend abe thinks but oh well. Ya he likes the graphics over the storyline... well I like err I don't know the hot chick in the car maybe... I think it was an okay storyline if you ignored the whole cube thing. Anyway onto the next part.

Rest of Shoreleave in as few words as possible...
Poker, Dancing, Singing, Pirates, Beer, EEK FAMILY!! BAD..., RUN!!!

Uh okay Poker... Played the first night net 11 dollars. Played the Second night lost 4 dollars. Seems good to me for hours of entertainment until 4:30 am.

Dancing... Danced with this nice girl named Dawn who lives somewhere 30 minutes from ocean city. She very good looking, was way off on the age. I thought she was about 6 years younger then what she was. I think thats always a plus! Didn't really get to talk to my Asian Photographer friend this time.... maybe she was avoiding me or to engrossed into the con thing.

Singing... there is this group called Boogy Knights they are really good. They do song parodies kind of like what Weird Al does except just fantasy. Um other singing news there was a Karaoke which we didn't stay long for had to play poker after all. Some of the people were good. Some where... well drunk.

Pirates... uh well people dress up. There was this guy who looked exactly like Jack Sparrow you had to do a double take. Also boogy knights dresses up like pirates. Other people typically dress more sci-fiish with the always present klingon jail which Maybe I should have put britt into. Eh I dun think there is any other news on pirates.. no pirate party anymore it was disbanded by the hotel. Very sad.

Beer... I had lots of beers over the weekend. Mostly Flyingdog and Corona. Ya... umm giving blood and then drinking is very fun.

Family... Eh ya some of them were there I tried to avoid some people...

Baltimore: Shoreleave 29

<lj-embed id="6" />

For a while now I have been going to a Star Trek Convention known as Shoreleave. This convention is a fan run convention that is in its 29th year now at Baltimore. This year they had a couple of people that you might know.

Lets start out with one you will most likely know.

Nichelle Nichols
ST:TOS's
Lt. Uhura

She was very nice. I seen her a couple of years ago. She typically talks a bit of her experience on the show, a little bit of her life previous to the show then she goes into how she got the job. Finally she almost always ends talking about her impact on black women and society. She considers one of her greatest feats to be getting diversity into the space astronaut program. She had a lot of things to say and was very enjoyable.

Gary Jones
Stargate SG-1's
Chief Mst Sgt. Walter Harriman

&

Dean Haglund
X-Files and The Lone Gunmen's
Richard Langly

Were on at the same time when it was supposed to be just Gary Jones. These guys were very funny, what they did was a "Who's Line is it Anyway" Improv with the crowd. They geared it towards star gate as it was supposed to be more towards Stargate fans because of Gary Jones. He was kind of funny because he was talking about how all he does is email people and set the stargate symbols... Reminds me a lot like what Uhura does.. you know just talking to the computer!

Aaron Douglas
Battlestar Galactica's
Chief Galen Tyrol

This guy was pretty cool. I should have talked to him while he was at the pool but I didn't I assumed he wanted to relax because he had his book. During his talk he was saying how he loves to talk to fans and about the show and doesn't mind people bothering him. Heh for now he does anyway! He talked a lot about his little boy and how he spoils him when he comes over. He also wanted a beer! As he said so many times throughout his talk about it would be really cool if a fan had a beer for him! He also told us some more somber things like how "good" actors actually experience feelings while they are filming. He mentioned the rape scene when the Marines were raping Number Six on Battlestar Galactica which ends up only being a 30 second scene but they filmed the whole event and all the retakes and different angles took 12 hours. So he was saying how comes to these type of conventions to get away from the acting helps so that he doesn't drive a car off a cliff.

Lastly the only other person I saw was:

Claudia Christian
Babylon Five's
Cmdr. Susan Ivanova

I didn't actually go to her talk or anything. She was *cough* supposed to be a judge at the Masquerade on Saturday night. However, she was really really drunk. I don't think people caught on at first. She came out and talked a bit of thanks for being here and I dunno general babble on how she already started judging the crowd. It was kind of funny and could have been something that was just planned. I started to suspect that she was a little drunk towards the end of the speech when she went backstage instead of down to the judges table. Then came the kids judging contest. When she started ogling a couple of the kids from her seat I knew she was toasted. Then came this mother and a baby and she stopped at the judges table. She started holding the kid and I was like OMG Take the baby from the drunk women. Anyway eventually they get through the showing of the kids and to the awards. She gets on stage and starts to try and talk for each of the kids to the crowd and everything! It was horrible. Then between the kids and the adult competition she babbles some more and eventually they get her off stage. Never to be seen again that night.

Wow this turned out a bit longer then I thought it was going to turn out. I think I will post some more about shoreleave tomorrow. Remind me if I forget!

He is 88% Californian while I am only 12% californian... I think there is a good reason too! Take this test and you will soon find out yourself why only californians can score high on this test. What he cannot believe is why all the rest of our friends are scoring so low!

Okay onto the next Test. Coffee!

You are a Black Coffee

I HAVE NO IDEA HOW I GOT BLACK COFFEE! WTF??!! I just drink coffee in the morning at work, I swear! Okay so I did have coffee at the bar in New Mexico and later on that night but I was tired after the long trip! Hmmm I just don't know what to say.

<lj-embed id="4" />

Well it seems that every other week I travel somewhere, this week I went to Santa Fe, New Mexico. I flew in from Atlanta to Albuquerque and my cousin picked me up at the airport. Well not really my cousin.. he was in the car yes but Barry, my Aunts Boyfriend, was the one driving. Barry has only had his license for about six months. I don't know how else to say this other then he is a HORRIBLE DRIVER! So I feared for my life on the way to Santa Fe.

Once we got there we picked up my cousins roommates and went out to a bar. The first bar turned down one of us with a license that expired so we went to the next and next and finally ended up at this bar called the Cow Girl. Well I should have known from the name this bar was probably a gay bar. All the women were in groups and all the men were in groups. Nothing was really noticeable except the women sometimes holding hands but eh I only noticed this at the end when they were closing the bar at like 12:30???!! Who closes a bar that early?

We went home watched some robot chicken and went to bed. Next day we woke up ate, played settlers of Catan, AN AWESOME GAME, and then went to the mountains for a hike. Well I am not in shape I will just say that and probably lagged the whole group. We went a total of around 11 miles up the mountain to the top which over looked the city and more. Was a nice view but I am not sure it was worth killing myself over. Afterwords we had a large dinner with pork chops, mash potatoes, veggies, mashed turnips, some other things I can't remember the name of. After that we were pretty much beat from the hike and all went to bed.

I got up in the morning and got on my flight back to Atlanta. I tell you what I may start to regret having a manual transmission because my legs were killing me so much so that I did not want to shift gears because having to move my left leg to push in the clutch was a chore. Even as a speak my legs are still killing me maybe I should ice them. Next time I go out there I think we might go see an Opera they have this cool Amphitheater out there. Also I am not sure my cousin realized how short of a period I was out there because last time I took off a whole day this time I didn't. Next time hopefully get to do more stuff... well sort of. There isn't all that terribly much to do out there without spending an arm and leg.

<lj-embed id="3" />

I guess I have a boring life.. but I really don't know how to make it more interesting. I do things I have seen things that I know other people never do. Hmm so lets have a life recap...

Young... fell off bed got stitches on the middle of the upper lip (you know between that bridge there)... I don't remember this but it happened!
Raced Remote control cars around the Trailer Park (yes I lived in a trailer park)
When I was 8 or so Umm first grade age I moved and went to prefirst at Muhlenberg. A house this time. I was in a play that they put on... one of the horses I believe for Cinderella. Oh ya fun fact everyone who goes there misspells Mule... muhl...

Anyway so I have been older then everyone by a year for a long time. I actually did well in those years getting straight A's and later I excelled well in math but not in English. So life goes fast and 5th grade I am part of another play. This time the high School wanted middle schoolers for a play I tried out for slow poke (I think doopy is the Disney's name) Ended up getting Snore (Sleepy). Yay I am not sure if this fits me what do you think? Speaking of Disney I think around this year I went to Disney's big red boat cruise! It was fun. The pool was salty so I didn't swim in it much. Played a lot of capture the flag and other things with the kids programming.

Oh ya back up.. first grade I also became a Tiger Scout!! Yay cub scouts. Okay fast forward again. Sometime in the middle school I got to be in the Boy Scouts. Did some camping! Boy scouts was really really fun! All good times. Nothing was lame about it to be honest got to go to a gun camp. Went hiking in the snow pulling sleds, figuring out clues, tying knots. I was probably introduced to magic about the same time I was introduced to boy scouts. Back when if you lost the game you lost a card! Little did I know you were supposed to pick the card up for grabs or something the rules about that were fishy! Um right so that's middle school.

High school comes around and I wanted to join something to do there. My sister had a friend who joined stage crew and I joined up with her. She never really got into it and didn't do anything but I liked the crowd and stayed with it. Umm ya I am not sure I will talk about some of the things that went on down there! I did lighting my junior and senior year, this is alot of work and I put in long hours. Once in a while I got paid which was cool!

Oh ya speaking of being paid... back in the middle school years I did have a job delivering papers. It started out as my moms which I did most of the work anyway but eventually took over.

Okay back to high school. I did date a couple of people but that was it and high school was just about over I had to rush to become an eagle scout my junior year. Liked physics alot and for awhile debated about going to college for either lighting or Aerospace Engineering (actually I didn't know they had aerospace engineering I thought it was all just space physics or something like that).

Notable things I did while in High School: Catch a guy who shot someone in North Carolina! That story might be for another post if I get requests.

College I went to Embry-Riddle... I like the place but after 4 years there alot of the people have really bad attitudes and it is very hard to lighten up the mood. Imagine a bunch of people who complain about nothing ever going on but don't bother to leave their rooms! If you hate it so much just leave! I join Touch-N-Go my freshman year almost immediately because of stage crew from high school. I had a great time with the group I am not sure if I will continue my service during the fall because alot of people who I liked are gone now. Also I think I should concentrate on my school work my last semester there I did not do as well as I hoped.

Notable things from college: Put on Concerts/Comedians - Sugar Ray, Christopher Titus, Collin Mochery & Brad Sherwood, American Hi-Fi with Bowling for Soup, Carlos Mencia (He was awesome! I never seen his show so it was all new material. However afterwords I realized it was all material from his show. But it was new then so no-one really saw to much of his show)... I think that's it I put on another concert I didn't really watch or take much part in and I forget the name of the group.
More notable things: Got an internship with ASA yay! My first real job outside of college jobs and new paper routes and doing things for stage crew! Well it was the most I was ever payed anyway!

So that leads me to where I am now. I hope you enjoyed a short recap of the Life of Carcer! If you have an questions or want me to expand on a certain part I will gladly do so.

<lj-embed id="2" />

I flew to Salt Lake City if you couldn't guess from the title. I went 4-3-0... Some might say this is good considering I won more then I lost but the first four rounds were 1-3-0 so I mean I only one the last 3 because I was playing against crappy players???? BAH anyway before I talk about the rest of salt lake city here goes the round by round fight.

Round 1 Ding... B/W Rack deck. First turn Plaque Rusalka, turn 2 cry of contrition rack. Turn 3 stupor turn 4 rack rack, sac plaque... Umm something like this anyway I am exagerating but not on the triple rack part!!! Holy crap I cannot do anything about that. Game 2 went similar because he had double rack pretty early and then persecute GOT OWNED

Round 2 Aggro deck with counterspells (go figure?) I think it was three colors I OWNED IT.

Round 3 Angelfire- I made HUGE play mistakes both games.. I lose

Round 4 This storm deck that pissed me off! GOT OWNED

Round 5 This woman who was to old for magic. Okay this is probably bad to say but I was nice... OWNED

Round 6 LD deck with a dumb pilot. I thought the deck was good though. OWNED

Round 7 WHY AM I PLAYING??? DRAGONSTORM- Supposedly the best deck in the format. It won game 1 but game 2 it didn't have the power. I own it.

Okay thats it I got 36ths like I said out of like 88 players though most dropped at this point, so that means I was pretty far down he list. 32nd and up got prizes.

Now for the rest of Salt Lake City... Apparently this is a HUGE mormon town and my friends Girl Friend is a huge religious buff going to Messiah (which is where one of my ex-girlfriends went). COME ON the name gives it away I am not saying anything else. Okay right... Mormons... that is apparently a nick name for the religion which they call the Church of Laterday saints... SO THATS WHAT THOSE COMMERCIALS ARE??!!! WOW... I feel dumb. Anyway we went on this tour that is the whole intro to god when I guess they wanted more of a historic background thing. What I did learn was this guy Joe Smith or something like that is their founder of the church in 1820s or something and how he found the Native Americans version of the bible... uuuuhhhhhhh... really?

So then they go on and on about how they believe this book of mormon (which is where they get their nickname from) is the word of god. Well to not get to religious smashing or anything I don't believe that anything written by Human beings are the word of god... not a bit... maybe they have talked with god if you can do that kind of thing and they thought they wrote what he wanted to say but I am sure they all botched up the message when they started a religion to convert people to follow such strict outlines and specifics. Uh so anyway, ya some interesting facts are that they always have a Prophet now! What? how are you sure there is going to be another prophet after the current one?... I think they should use a different name like the Pope! Thought that is almost as bad when you consider how confusing religion can get. Should religion be murky? I think things that are true and holistic should be umm simple and easy.. you know like not murdering people who easy is that! (Yet what is this about Murder is bad but killing people in the name of religion okay? I am confused again!) Well lets go with not killing people is a good thing.

I have gotten off topic, I think, after this tour of the mormons we walked around town got asked by a bunch of bums for money and I tell you what they are more blunt about it then the bums in Philly and they were to well dressed to play the part so I didn't give them any. They just want to take advantage of all the giving mormons. Well take that! Ask me to buy you food I might do it... ask me to give you money err no sorry. Will they ever ask you for food? I doubt it, they are not hungry and they can make enough in a day to eat for a bit I would think. So after fighting all the bums we went to the hotel, ate some food, played some magic. I traded my friend for a wrath of god and got some other things. Everything was fun though I don't think i will ever go to salt lake city again. Way to religious for me and besides the flights getting out are REALLY REALLY difficult. I had to get on the first one and S2 my way onto the Aircraft! Geeze!!!!!!! the first flight of the DAY! 6:00 am!!!!!!! Over all I think the weekend was a bit to expensive for me too! But it was fun and I got to see my friend again.

<lj-embed id="1" />

So another facet of my life is watching Anime. I am not one of those hard core anime watchers but I do watch a couple. Right now I am watching Naruto and sometimes bleach. Anyway, the anime that got me started was on Cartoon Network, Trigun! Woot this show is pretty awesome. Actually I didn't know how awesome it was until I watched them all straight in a row with a storyline and everything! I also watched dragonball Z but I am not sure how much of an anime this is still then more of just a cartoon hehe. Still it was pretty good until it got really repetitive.

So really, I got to college and met my current roommate who got me into playing Go. After playing go for about 6 months he finally got me to watch this Anime about playing Go. I was very skeptical about it because seriously a show about watching people play a board game? This doesn't sound very interesting. I was extremely wrong I guess. It is amazing how good the show actually is and the drama they put into it. You actually never see a whole game or anything like that just the dramatic instances when the characters sweat. What is crazy though is the music that the imploy in the episodes. At the very end of the show they have this ending music that just grips you to go and watch the next episode! Lucky for me the whole series was complete at the time and I just had to go and watch the next one. After that my roommate got me to watch Naruto, however this series is not complete and has ALOT of episodes, it is still going on. Naruto has about 230 episodes by now and is pretty good (Except for the past year when they were doing only side stories, but are now back to the main storyline). Other animes I have watched are Bleach which is pretty good, full metal panic and probably some other random episodes of other animes.
